This is the book you should by for every teenage girl in your life!!! (and boys) (and yourself!!!)

I heard Ms. Maccie being interviewed on Entertainment Weekly Radio and bought the book because she was talking about her love for John Hughes movies and how those movies and Juno and Perks Of Being A Wallflower influenced her. I love those movies. Then I found out, her husband is Stephen Chbosky who wrote Perks (like one of my favorite books ever!!). I thought, I have to check her book out.
I was not disappointed at all, on the contrary, it was so good that I read it all in one sitting on my Kindle (then ordered a paperback version). While I loved Roberta Romano, the tough as nails Heroine, i couldn't get enough of Mervin. He made me laugh so hard. What a great character!! But, Roberta made me cry. This book reminded me of so many books and movies I love... Breakfast Club, Stand By Me, Perks!!! I already bought copies for my three nieces. i looked up Ms. Maccie online and found out she wrote Make It Or Break It, which is my youngest niece's favorite show. So, this woman obviously knows how to speak to teenage girls (and boys).
I recommended buying this book for every young girl in your life, but also for you, because it reminds you what high school was really like. The confusion and insecurities and pain. I was kind of like Mervin.

I cannot recommend this book enough

As a passionate fan of YA novels, I cannot recommend this book enough. Liz Maccie has brought to life a strong, witty, and relatable character in Roberta Romano. Maccie takes us through one single day in Roberta's life at her new school, and her honesty and comical style reminded me of the great Judy Blume. Don't miss this one.

Sharp, charming, coming-of-age story

The young-adult genre is not normally my cup of tea but there is an exception to every rule and in this case, "Lessons I Never Learned..." is it. Led by a wonderful cast of characters, this lovely and funny coming-of-age tale is told with a wry, descriptive wit that I found completely engaging. A great read for tweens and teens as well as for adults who could use reminding that the life of adolescents is delicate and worthy of empathy.
