Review
"Sibley has paid special attention to the executive function and developmental challenges faced by teens with ADHD. She extensively investigated available therapies and drew on her clinical experience to determine what treatment components would be needed to significantly improve these teens' home and school lives. Her approach is empirically supported and clinically sound. The program addresses the specific struggles that clinicians face in motivating teens; working collaboratively with families; and building skills in organization, time management, and planning. This book is sure to be a valued resource in an area in need of as many tools as possible."--Richard Gallagher, PhD, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, New York University School of Medicine

"This book nicely fills a long-standing need for a manual-based clinical intervention for enhancing executive functioning (EF) in teens with ADHD. What makes the approach unique among family training programs is the way it combines practical strategies grounded in clinical and educational research with MI, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and collaborative problem-solving methods. Mental health professionals and students will find a wealth of recommendations for addressing EF and self-regulatory deficits in adolescents.”--Russell A. Barkley, PhD, ABPP, ABCN, Department of Psychiatry, Medical University of South Carolina

"This cutting-edge book provides a comprehensive treatment approach for executive functioning concerns in adolescents, consistent with the newest conceptualizations of ADHD. The book uniquely integrates cognitive-behavioral therapy and skills training while attending to critical issues around motivation of both teens and their parents. It is grounded in strategies to increase extrinsic motivation (with contingency management) and intrinsic motivation (with MI). The manual will be useful for any practitioner working with adolescents with ADHD and their families, regardless of discipline."--Sylvie Naar, PhD, Director, Division of Behavioral Sciences, Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences, Wayne State University

"These are the kids that I see in my practice, write about in my books, and talk about in my workshops. Sibley describes a therapeutic strategy that she has tested and perfected over years of practice with teens with executive skills deficits and ADHD. The case examples ring true and hit on the wide array of difficulties that these students experience. The approach is sophisticated, yet the tools are practical, and both novice and expert therapists can find ways to incorporate Sibley’s methods in their practice right away. I highly recommend this book."--Peg Dawson, EdD, Center for Learning and Attention Disorders, Seacoast Mental Health Center, Portsmouth, New Hampshire
